About
We are glad to announce the seventh edition of the Complexity72h workshop, which will take place in London, United Kingdom, in 22-26 June 2026.
Complexity72h is an interdisciplinary workshop for young researchers in complex systems. Participants form teams and carry out projects in a three days’ time, i.e. 72 hours. The goal of each team is to upload on the arXiv (or similar repositories) a report of their work by the end of the event. Previous editions were a success: 33 out of 33 projects have become arXiv preprints and new collaborations have been born.
Organizers

Alberto Antonioni
Alberto is an associate professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain. He is currently a member of the Interdisciplinary Group of Complex Systems (GISC), secretary of the Spanish Chapter of the Complex Systems Society. and Chair of the Conference of Complex Systems Steering Committee. He works at the intersection of game theory, experimental economics, and complex systems, with a background in mathematics and computer science.
Eugenio Valdano
Eugenio is a tenured researcher at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). He is part of the Pierre Louis Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IPLESP), attached to INSERM and the Faculty of Health of Sorbonne Université, in Paris, France. Eugenio is an infectious disease epidemiologist with a background in theoretical physics.
Local Chair
Iacopo Iacopini
Iacopo is an Associate Professor in the Network Science Institute at Northeastern University London. His research interests are in the area of complex networks and computational social sciences, with a focus on behavioural contagion, discovery processes, and group dynamics.
Scientific Program Officer
Alessandro Galeazzi
Alessandro is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Padova in Italy. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Brescia, followed by a Postdoc at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, on topics related to complex systems, social networks, the formation of echo chambers on social media.
Admissions and Communications Officers
Leonardo Federici
Leonardo is a PhD student at the Network Science Institute, Northeastern University London. With a background in mathematics, his research interests include the theoretical and topological foundations of complex networks and their role in modelling critical phenomena. His current work focuses on higher-order networks for understanding group dynamics and network-based approaches to ecological interactions.
Social Activity Officer
Natalia Briñas Pascual
Natalia is a PhD student at Carlos III University in Madrid and a member of the Cross-Disciplinary Complex Systems Group (GISC). She has a background in mathematics, and her research focuses on the dynamics of biological systems, particularly on tumor growth and the morphology of cancerous tissue.
Media and Outreach Officers
Rashid Ibrahimli
Rashid is second year PhD student at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His research mainly focuses on evolutionary games. He also works as machine learning engineer.
Maddalena Torricelli
Maddalena is a postdoctoral researcher at Northeastern University specializing in sports analytics. With a background in complex systems physics and computational social sciences, she holds a PhD in Data Science. Her research applies network science, data analytics, and complex systems methods to sports, focusing on team dynamics, performance analysis, and temporal patterns in gameplay.
